New Standards on Residential HVAC: What do they mean for you?
Whether you live in Missouri or Kansas, you will be affected by new energy conservation rules regarding your residential HVAC system. As we are in the “Northern Region,” the proposed standards will affect us beginning in May of next year. These new rules are designed to set new and higher minimal standards for HVAC appliances, making them more energy efficient.
While these rules are for new installations of HVAC systems, those will older systems will not be facing a huge upgrading cost immediately. As long as an 80% efficient system is not deemed as unfit or leaking carbon monoxide, it can be fixed with new parts; however if the system is unfit, this will qualify as a new installation and will be required to be replaced. Don’t Neglect Your Residential HVAC Filters
One residential maintenance step that is often overlooked or forgotten about is replacing your HVAC filters. We can be so busy performing visible maintenance steps, we forget about the ones we can’t see.
To keep your HVAC running at the best capacity it can, you should typically replace your filters every 3-4 months. When you keep your filters clean and routinely replaced, the air quality in your home will be at its peak. Those in your family that suffer from allergies or asthma through our Kansas City seasons will appreciate it and they’ll be able to breathe easier. (more…)
HVAC Commercial Copper Theft: a Rising Issue

Stolen copper coils from commercial and residential HVAC units have made the news recently. With the price of copper rising, the amount of thefts involving copper is also rising. Large commercial businesses in Overland Park, Olathe, Grandview, Kansas City, and Leawood have all been victim to this crime and the costs to their businesses are high. Because these companies have multiple HVAC units to fill their large buildings, they are often targets. Copper thieves can hit multiple units in a short space when they go after a large commercial business. (more…)
