Changes have been made to the Safe Drinking Water Act, which outlines requirements for the amount of lead that can be found in drinking water. Recently, federal legislation has been passed, and will go into effect on January 4, 2014, that spells out requirements for plumbing fixtures as well. Luckily, depending on what types of faucets that you own, these are changes that you may not need to worry about.
